Phase II Construction is Complete!

Now, visitors to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis don't have to worry about the weather or the traffic as they make their way from the parking garage to the museum via a new covered Skywalk. The Skywalk connects to a new 39,000-square-foot Welcome Center that provides a host of new services for visitors, expanded space for our annual Haunted House, Jolly Days Winter Wonderland and other temporary exhibits and access to a new infoZone library and Museum Store.

The thousands of school children who visit the museum each year now have a safer entry into the museum with the new passenger drop-off area. A new access point for freight vehicles, separate from visitor traffic, a new bicycle port and bus shelter have also been added.

We appreciate your patience during the past year as we worked to create a safer visitor experience for our members and guests.

Welcoming is Key in New Welcome CenterKeyBank

The Children's Museum will celebrate the opening of its new, grand Welcome Center on June 27 with Key Bank as the museum's presenting partner. Gary Hentschel, President of KeyBank Central Indiana, says "As Key grows in the community, we're proud to help the community grow. The need for the growth and expansion of this new welcome center for The Children's Museum is a testament to the importance of the organization and to the experiences that keep so many families coming back to see the next great adventure that the museum will bring to Indianapolis. He adds, "We're thrilled to partner with the museum again and to celebrate this expansion, welcoming kids and families to come and celebrate with us."

New Welcome Center Will Improve Member Services

The new Welcome Center is more than just a beautiful space; it will also help us provide even better customer service.

Here's what our members can look forward to:

Members-only entrance lanes. Separate entrances and exits for members and school groups will make the Welcome Center less crowded and access quicker and easier.
A Members-only counter. Located next to the box office, this convenient counter will let members pick up will-call tickets, request card replacements, purchase tickets for member events and purchase guest admission tickets.
A self-service locker room. Visitors can store items here and enjoy a more hands-free museum experience.
Stroller and wheelchair rentals and limited coat check.
Note: Coats won't be necessary on most days since the Skywalk from the garage to the museum is fully enclosed.
Family restrooms in the Welcome Center.

When it's time for a bite to eat, all visitors are welcome to use the Food Court, including families who bring their own lunches.
No Food Court purchase is necessary. The Sack Lunch Room will no longer be available, as it will move to a new school group area.

We'd like to extend a special thank you to everyone who participated in our surveys over the past year. Your feedback helped us design the Welcome Center with your needs in mind. We hope you will join us on June 27 as we welcome you to this wonderful new facility.
