Important Note – In late April 2009, SpaceQuest Planetarium was fitted with new, full-theater equipment upgrades, bringing full-dome video technology to SpaceQuest!! This offers our audiences spectacular new imagery and a new repertoire of shows. Wonders of the Universe and Two Small Pieces of Glass will join Cosmic Canopy in our new show rotation for the 2009 summer months. Stars of the Pharoahs will premier June 27 to celebrate the opening of the Tut exhibit and will be part of the summer rotation. Please join us to witness this amazing transformation and new immersive experiences for you and your family and friends in SpaceQuest Planetarium.

Our 130-seat theater features the DigiStar full-dome projection system, along with a very impressive sound system. When you visit the planetarium, you are treated to an immersive experience that will amaze you.

About Our Programs
We have a variety of presentations for all ages. You can see the stars of the Indiana night sky or learn how a telescope works and about astromers who use/used it. Or fly past our Milky Way galaxy to see beautiful nebluae, stars born from dust and gas and the explosions of some dying stars.

Select-a-Show Option
School groups with more than 50 participants have greater scheduling flexibility when they use the Select-a-Show Option. SpaceQuest Planetarium offers the Select-a-Show Option on selected Mondays from March through May 2010. Choose any Planetarium show on this page and call (317) 334-4000 to schedule.

Big Bird, Elmo, and Hu Hu Zhu take viewers on an exciting discovery of the Sun, Moon, and stars. They learn about the Big Dipper and the North Star, and take an imaginary trip to the Moon where they learn that the Moon is a very different place from the Earth. When Elmo and Hu Hu Zhu use their imaginations to return to Earth, they celebrate the idea that even though they live in two different countries, they still share the same sky.

Wonders of the Universe

Age: Ideal for ages 8 and up.
Length: 20 minutes
Peer deep into space through the eyes of the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope and travel back billions of years in time to witness the birth of the universe. On this breathtaking excursion you'll witness the formation of galaxies and explore some of the most wondrous nebulae and astronomical structures yet discovered. As your travels continue, you'll fly deep into our own Milky Way galaxy and return home to Earth on a spectacular tour through the solar system.

Two Small Pieces of Glass: the Amazing Telescope

  Two Small Pieces of Glass: the Amazing Telescope
Length: 32 minutes
Produced to engage and appeal to audiences of all ages, Two Small Pieces of Glass traces the history of the telescope from Galileo's modifications to a child's spyglass—using two small pieces of glass—to the launch of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and the future of astronomy. It explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers through out the last 400 years and celebrates the International year of Astronomy.

Age: Ideal for ages 5 and up.
Length: 15 minute presentation.
Every night the stars form a glorious canopy over the earth. Can you find and name the familiar patterns called constellations? See the jewels of our Indiana night sky.
All shows included with museum admission.
Free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 10 a.m. at the Lower Level ticket booth.
