Another Round of Applause Please for The Children’s Museum Internship Program

The internship program at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has been recognized as an exemplary program for the second time in just a few months.

InternnetIndiana INTERNnet named the museum program 2012 Non-profit Intern Program of the Year.   Karla McLaughlin, Intern Program Manager, accepted the award on The Children’s Museum’s behalf at the 7th Annual IMPACT Awards luncheon on February 6, 2013. Presenters said the museum program was selected because of its extraordinary intern mentors.

“We are extremely proud of our mentors, who are committed to providing quality learning opportunities for our interns who are considering a career in the museum field and want to gain professional experience. Our entire museum family values the contributions that interns make to advance the world’s biggest and best children’s museum’s mission and vision,” says Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Recently, the museum’s internship program was also recognized as one of the top 10 non-profit internship programs in the nation by Vault, Inc.

In 2012, 30 mentors worked with 43 gifted interns.  The interns contributed almost 10,000 hours last year with the mentors working by their side every step of the way. Our intern mentors truly commit to delivering on the promise of ‘being there’ with the interns.
