Chance to Race a Real IndyCar Driver on the Orange Track!

Ladies, gentlemen and kids of all ages: Start your engines! It’s about to get fast and furious at the world’s largest children’s museum as real IZOD IndyCar Series drivers will race five children at a time on a special six-lane Hot Wheels® racetrack. The showdown will take place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Ed Carpenter (Ed Carpenter Racing), Charlie Kimball (Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing), and Alex Tagliani (Barracuda Racing) are the featured IndyCar drivers. No need for pit passes – a regular admission ticket will get children and families into the museum and all kid racers will receive a Hot Wheels temporary tattoo. Racing will take place next to the Hot Wheels For Real! ™ exhibit on the second level.

After the checkered flags fly, Carpenter and Kimball will sign autographs on the third level next to the IndyCar Show Car. IMS Kids Club mascots Axel and Alley also will be on hand for photos.

Featuring Hot Wheels die-cast cars as well as life-size Hot Wheels muscle cars and hot rods (like Twin Mill®, Deora® II and others), Hot Wheels For Real! invites children and families to create their own cool custom ride in the Hot Wheels Speedshop as they apply dynamite decals to a full-size car’s exterior, change out pretend car parts with kid-friendly tools and try on a mechanic’s outfit. Then, it’s “pedal-to-the-metal” for youngsters who want to jump cars through hoops or loop them around some of the famous orange track in pre-designed layouts.

IMS Kids Club members will receive half-price youth admission Saturday, April 13, with each ticket priced at $6.75 with a paid adult admission. There is a limit of two discounted tickets per family with the presentation of their Kids Club Kid-ential.

Carpenter and Kimball hope to be among the 33 drivers who will take the green flag in the 97th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 26 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Opening Day practice starts Saturday, May 11, 2013.
