The Terre Haute Children’s Museum is pleased to announce it will be joining The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Indiana Historical Society, and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in offering greatly reduced admission to families in need throughout the State of Indiana.
As part of its ongoing effort to provide extraordinary learning experiences for as many Indiana children and their families as possible, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis created the Access Pass program in 2004. This successful statewide initiative provides low-income Hoosier families with opportunities to visit at the reduced rate of $1 per family member per visit. Conner Prairie joined the program in 2009, the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Indiana Historical Society and the Eiteljorg Museum all joined in 2010. The Terre Haute Children’s Museum is the first institution outside of the Indianapolis area to join the program.
“The creation of the ACCESS Pass is a wonderful way the Museum and its partners like the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, reaches thousands of Hoosier families throughout the state to ensure all children and families, regardless of income are able to learn and grow together,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
“The Terre Haute Children’s Museum believes that all families – regardless of income – should be able to visit the Museum and access its resources, so we are thrilled to be bringing this program to the Terre Haute area,” said Lynn Hughes, executive director of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.
“Through philanthropic contributions, the Museum has been able to offer program discounts and field trip scholarships to children in need, but we didn’t have an organized program to offer discounts to families,” Hughes continued. “When we discovered the Access Pass program, we knew that this was the perfect way for us to ensure that our local residents, and Hoosier families through the state, could take advantage of the educational opportunities offered by our facility and all of the other wonderful institutions involved in this program.”
Indiana families with at least one member who is 18 years of age or older and who are part of the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), food stamps or Hoosier Healthwise Insurance are eligible to participate in the Access Pass program.
To enroll in or renew an existing Access Pass program membership, qualifying families can visit any of the participating venues with required documentation and a completed Access Pass application. They will be issued an Access Pass card that is renewable annually and provides family members the reduced rate throughout the year. The Terre Haute Children’s Museum, located at the corner of 8th Street and Wabash Avenue in downtown Terre Haute, is a nonprofit institution dedicated to enriching our children’s lives through the exploration of science and technology. Museum admission is free for members of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and children under 24 months. Regular admission is $7 for adults and children over 24 months.
