- Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris are all classified as dwarf planets according to the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
- Of the 5 known dwarf planets, Ceres is the only one that resides in the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter. The remainging 4 reside beyond Neptune's orbit.
