Masks Now Optional for Visitors to The Children’s Museum Effective March 9 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DATE: March 7, 2002

After consulting with our medical advisory team, and in accordance with CDC guidelines, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis will make changes to our mask policy effective March 9. At that time, it will be optional for guests to wear face masks indoors.  Museum staff, volunteers, interns, contractors and vendors will be required to continue to wear face masks indoors. This change in mask policy follows extensive consultation with the museum’s scientific advisory panel consisting of leading medical and public health officials.

The health and safety of our guests, staff, volunteers and interns always comes first with us,” said Jennifer Pace Robinson, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum. “Throughout this pandemic, we have closely and consistently followed the recommendations of our scientific advisory panel as well as data and research provided by the CDC and local and state health department. We feel this is the right time to update our mask policy and leave the final decision to families.”

Facility cleanliness continues to be a top museum priority. Galleries and high touch areas are disinfected daily and restrooms are cleaned multiple times a day. Sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer remain readily available throughout the museum.

The museum continues to encourage everyone to seek out vaccination information from their healthcare provider or health and wellness experts to make the best vaccination decision for themselves and their family. The museum is committed to the health and safety of its visitors, staff, and volunteers, and stands on the side of science believing that COVID-19 vaccines serve an important role in the fight against COVID-19.

As the museum looks forward to spring and the reopening of the 7.5-acre outdoor Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience March 19, 2022, museum capacity will increase to approximately 75 percent. Social distancing remains highly recommended throughout the museum campus.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is proud to partner with Riley Children’s at Indiana University Health, Old National Bank and Ice Miller LLP.
