The BUTTER Fine Art Fair is a multi-day fine art fair anchored in Indianapolis that centers the care and economic viability of Black visual artists.
It’s an event full of artwork, live music, dance performances, poetry, DJ sets, custom merch, expert talks given by local, national, and international guest speakers, and food trucks. In 2024, they announced a renewed focus on education and community engagement with the expansion of their Education Day bringing us on as a partner.
Education Day provides hundreds of local students the opportunity to experience art through free field trips to the event. The partnership also allowed everyone 17 and under to visit BUTTER Fine Art Fair free of charge all weekend long, exposing even more children to art and culture.
From our
Indiana Visiting Artists, to
Stories from Our Community: The Art of Protest, to
other displays of their work, we have partnered with many BUTTER Fine Art Fair artists over the years. Regular BUTTER participant ess mckee even helped us
spread a little Turtle love throughout downtown Indianapolis to help us promote the final run of Nickelodeon’s
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™
: Secrets of the Sewer™ in March 2024.
We look forward to finding even more ways to partner with BUTTER and its featured artists..
The Visiting Artist Program is a project of the Lechleiter Indiana Visiting Artist Fund with support provided by The White Oak Foundation, Sarah and John Lechleiter.
