Did you know the Carousel is over 100 years old? It was originally installed in what became known as Broad Ripple Park in 1917—but some of its animals were probably made long before that. The Carousel registered on the National Register of Historic Places, and we believe the Carousel should be available for everyone to enjoy.
We take pride in the Carousel, and we work hard at maintaining it and preserving its mechanical pieces and stunning wood-carved animals. That’s why the Carousel goes through an in-depth maintenance routine every year. The Carousel will be closed for its annual maintenance Aug. 26–Sept. 27, 2024. We know the magical Carousel is a favorite of many of our visitors—especially preschoolers. And while this regularly-scheduled maintenance helps ensure that the ride will be available for years to come, this closure could be an inconvenience for your family.
Even though the Carousel is temporarily closed, we have five floors of fun and a 7.5 acre outdoor sports wonderland. There’s plenty for you and your preschooler to do while the Carousel is closed!
