Our family moved to Indianapolis when my oldest son was 3. We moved from a very small town where there was very little to do. We had spent about a year there and he was bored. Even before we moved here those who knew of our destination told us about The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. We bought a membership on our first visit!! My son was absolutely taken in by everything! It was so hot that month and I was so pregnant. I think we came back every day or close to it. Every night when he was going to bed he wanted to go to the "choo-choo muzeem" and I had to explain it was closed for the day and we could go back in the morning. It was then the first thing he'd ask for when he woke up and I'd have to explain they don't open until 10! I think it took us a month to actually get to the fourth floor because he took each thing in and played with it until he was done with it and ready to move on.
I think the most amazing thing about his experience with the museum was that every day when we came home he was in a different state of play. Something he had experienced at the museum had sparked his imagination and he was playing much more creatively. He approached his toys differently. It was amazing to watch! Being able to immerse himself in new knowledge and being able to actually touch it all truly brought him into a new state of being. I've made all his educational choices since than with the knowledge of the importance of being hands-on in every way possible!
Thanks so much!!!!!
