Several years ago, when the What If gallery was still open, my husband and I took our then 3-yr old duaghter Ella to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. What If was her favorite...she could swim under the ocean, dig for dinosaur bones and travel to Egypt. Egypt was her absolute favorite...she was absolutely enthralled by the mummy. "Is that a real mummy?" "Was she a real person?" "How did she get here?" The barage of questions was endless. After going through several more rooms, we came face to face with the mummy...or rather what the mummy would have looked like in life. You could see Ella's mind feverishly spinning as she put the pieces together. Ella stood looking at her for several minutes. She could plainly see now how the artifacts she'd passed in the gallery had been used and that the mummy could have been a real person long ago. The mummy woman wore make-up and used a mirror and brushes just like Ella did when she was playing dress up. Since that time and up until What If closed, we would make it a point to go and visit the mummy woman. It was Ella's fovorite part of the museum.
