Every Moment Lasts a Lifetime

[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"39282","attributes":{"class":"media-image","typeof":"foaf:Image","style":"","title":"member story","alt":"member story"}}]]I started going to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis over 30 years ago with my mom. It was an annual trip in which she would take a large group of kids from her classroom. It was a time that I always looked forward to and the day always ended too soon. To this day, I still wonder what I did with my rock collection that I accumulated from The Museum Store.

Now, my three year old son has had the privilege of going for the past 2 1/2 years. There isn't just one moment that stands out because every moment seems to be just as special as the next. Over the years I have watched him grow from only being able to ooh and aah, to learning to walk up the ramp, to watching him run in excitement toward the next adventure. However, the dinosaurs are what I hear about most often in his persisent inquiry, "Mommy, are we going to go to the Dinosaur Museum?" Even though he is only three, he sits in front of every video screen and looks in every corner asking questions while naming off all of his favorite dinosaurs. At home, he picks up every rock and identifies the type of "dinosaur fossil" he has found. I can only hope that 30 years from now he will also be able to say that every moment at the museum with his friends and family were moments that were filled with laughter, fun, and learning...moments that lasted for a lifetime.
