Over the last week, my family has had the opportunity to visit the newest exhibit at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secrets of the Sewer.
It's a fun exhibit, and how could it not be? Lots of people love these heroes in a half shell and their turtle power. One of the coolest things about the exhibit is that the personality of each turtle is present, yet the sense—the need—for teamwork is prominent. The turtles are fun and strong independently, but as a team? Shredder and the Foot Clan have no chance against the "world's most fearsome fighting team".
So what inspiration can one garner from these ninjas-in-training? Pizza. Yes, it's that simple. If anything embodies the individuality of each member of a team, it's pizza. Think about your family and the toppings that each person enjoys. Sometimes it can be hard to satisfy the cravings of all of your team members and still serve the same dish. Well, today I have a solution—Pita Bread Pizza. It's quick, easy, and can appease the topping choices of even the most diverse family. And if you want an exercise in teamwork, place each family (team!) member in charge of a different stage of preparation.
Pita Bread Pizza
- A bag of pita bread (enough to meet the demands of your family)
- A jar of pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Toppings of your choice (I picked pepperoni.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- A cookie sheet or pizza pan
Step 1. Put the pita on the pan. Simple.
Step 2. Using a spoon, cover the pita bread evenly with pizza sauce.
Step 3. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese (to preference) on top of sauce.
Step 4. Place toppings on cheese. Kids may enjoy making faces out of the toppings. These are personal pizzas, so let the kiddos have some fun!
Step 5. Place pan in oven and cook until cheese has melted and browned.
Step 6. Let cool and then eat!
The Ninja Turtles are all about teamwork, and one of the best ways to inspire your team is to cook and eat together. So go home and enjoy some pizza and see what inspires your team tonight!
