Hi, my name is Beth Miller, the mother of 4 wonderful boys, Noah (10), Gavin (9), Tate (7), and Evan (5) (to the outside world), but when we're at the Indianapolis Children's Museum, they are explorers, adventures, world travelers, and so much more.
Back April my husband and I were trying to decide what we wanted to do for spring break. My husband had recently lost his job, so we knew it couldn't be something that was too expensive or too far away. We had wanted to explore the Indianapolis Children's Museum for some time, and add in that it wasn't too far away; it was the perfect solution to our spring break dilemma!
During that April day, our boys met Indiana Jones, became super heroes and adventurers of the universe. They directed their own adventure, explored the life of a race car driver, and flew to Egypt (where they wrestled an alligator, and prepared a mummy). They were sad we had to leave, and were eager to get back!
This past weekend I decided it was time for another adventure, so we loaded up and set our sights on The Children's Museum of Indianapolis... it was a surprise for the boys, a day out with mom and a trip to one of the best places to venture the world! When I told them where we were going, there were cheers and applause, they couldn't wait to get there.
First we rode down a mine shaft and explored the dig site of the Egyptian tomb, then took an underwater adventure, and then unearthed some Terra-Cotta warriors, and that was just in the first hour of our visit. Nowadays, kids look to live out adventures in video and computer games. As a parent, of course I want my boys to be computer savvy, but I want them to understand the importance of actually feeling the adventure, being able to hold it in their hands, which is exactly what they get at the museum. When we go to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, it might only be 2 hours away, but it actually takes us to places on the other side of the globe, deep below the sea, and even out of this world. The Indianapolis Children's Museum makes it so that kids of all ages from so many different walks of life can experience the wonders this world has to offer, all under one roof. It takes a day and turns it into the most incredible adventure.
What has The Children's Museum of Indianapolis done for my boys, how has it sparked their imaginations... it has taken the average kid and turned them into the most famous explorers this world has ever known. Thank you Children's Museum of Indianapolis for so many adventures.
