My best friend, Luann, had a huge sandbox in her backyard. We would spend long afternoons building entire towns in the sand. We would use our buckets and pails to make homes, mountains, etc. We would dig out areas and fill them with water to duplicate river beds. We used doll house people to populate our towns and rubber cars to navigate our scooped out roads. Time spent at that sandbox still holds a special place in our memories and in our hearts.
