Whenever we drive down to Indianapolis, we stop by the Indianapolis Children's Museum. My girls recognize the building when we turn right from Meridian Avenue, but before we get to Illinois Street from W 30th. They start to talk so quickly due to their excitement, I struggle to understand exactly what they are saying.

Last year they preferred the DinoSphere, but this year it's been all about Science experiments. We renewed our membership for Father's Day and in the short 4 weeks since, we have made cheese (that's my girls with their pipettes in the picture), learned about microscopes and how convex and concave lenses work, and learned about preservation by seeing which substance preserved a slice of an apple best. They love asking questions and the scientists are always so honest and knowledgeable, especially since they are dealing with small children on a daily basis.
We got to take our apple experiment home. My girls were able to compare results and reach a conclusion. It was awesome as a mother to see my girls curiosity be guided down the path of science. They love to learn and even got to stay after to talk to the scientist about the experiment. Which is really cool for a 4 and 5 year old.
We can never get the whole museum explored in a single day, which makes the membership that much more awesome! In the past 4 weeks, my daughters have been able to meet a paleontologist, ride an antique carousel, play PacMan and Mario Bros., have a story about a hungry caterpillar read to them (with puppets), participate in a volleyball game with museum staff and other children, learn how a water clock works, see famous paintings made of jelly beans, talk with scientists, learn about how children make a difference, put on a fashion show, touch a real fossil, watch a musical, enjoy a show in a Planetarium, explore Egypt, enjoy a 'kaleidoscope' of epic size, and play in water, dirt and with billiard balls which put on an awesome show. And so much more!
The Indianapolis Children's Museum is hands down the best place for discovery and learning.
