In 2018, we said, “Zài jiàn” to China in the Take Me There® gallery so we could say “Yia sas” to Greece in 2019. And now after five years of Take Me There®: Greece, it’s time to say “Adio” to the taverna, Greek night life, the beloved sea turtles, and the Kotopoulos and Tzonou-Herbst families. Beginning July 12, 2025, Take Me There Airways will embark on a new flight path, taking us to a brand-new destination to explore. In order to make way for this exciting new destination, Take Me There®: Greece will permanently close at the end of the day Sept. 15, 2024.

We present this news with a mixture of emotions. We are sad to see this hint of Greek culture—from daily conversations about Greek food, to dancing across the Greek isles, and everything in between—leave our five floors of fun. Greece’s rich cultural history will certainly be missed. But we are incredibly giddy about our next Take Me There® country!

We’re not going to tell you just yet. You’re going to have to wait. Our lips are sealed.
O.K., O.K. You twisted our arms. While we’re waiting until fall 2024 to announce the new destination, we can tell you this—the new Take Me There® destination is a Spanish speaking country. Considering the fact that there’s only 20 countries where Spanish is an official language, that narrows the options quite a bit. Doesn’t it?
We’re afraid we might have said too much.
The same Take Me There® experience you love
While you won’t get us to share the new Take Me There® location yet, here are a few things we can tell you—the new experience will have all of the features you’ve come to expect out of Take Me There®. Yes, the airplane will still be there to whisk your family away to the new country. It will still have a restaurant, outdoor environments, and arts and language activities.
Over the years, Take Me There® has country is examined through five different lenses:
- Language and Communication
- Homes
- Marketplace
- The Arts
- Environment
In our new location, we will add a sixth lens—school. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about a typical school day for children in this country, explore popular extracurricular activities, and discover what makes this country’s students’ classroom experience unique.
Most importantly, our new Take Me There® experience will continue to do what the exhibit has done so well for 15 years—provide an opportunity for your family to explore the differences and similarities between our culture and the cultures of others. Because understanding similarities and differences in cultures fosters awareness, acceptance and even respect for people from other societies and traditions. And when we get to know how people in other cultures live, we become aware of similarities while accepting differences in beliefs and values that are neither “good” nor “bad”, just different.
