Marsfield Indiana Insect Collection

These Indiana insects are just a portion of the collection created by Ron Marsfield, an amateur entomologist originally from the Indianapolis area. In the 1950s, he returned to Indy from California in the summers and extensively collected specimens. While researching and mounting the collection, museum volunteer Amber Shoulders discovered that the 1,600-plus insects Marsfield collected is the most extensive documentation of Marion County insects ever assembled.

Marsfield showed that a hobbyist with a passion for collecting can contribute to science in totally unexpected ways, and that anybody can contribute if they have the passion.
