If the museum asked you to donate something, what would you offer? This little porcupinefish was donated to the museum by Indianapolis Public Schools. Murray Dalman, a founding museum board member and also the director of the reference and research department for IPS, later confirmed that this was the very first item in the museum’s collection. It was displayed in the original museum housed in the carriage house of the Propylaeum at 14th and Delaware streets. A replica of this fish in a miniature of the museum can be seen in Mini Masterpieces on Level 4.
