Playscape® is a gallery for young children—infants through the preschool years—and their families to learn and play together, providing fun, hands-on opportunities to learn through the method that is most successful for them—play!

  • Ignite creativity in the Art Studio
  • Explore sound in the Music Studio
  • Fill, pour, empty, stir, squeeze, push, and pull in The Creek—a large-scale water table
  • Dig, pour, and sift in The Sandbox
  • Climb to new heights in The Pond—a climbing structure surrounded by netting
  • Build a giant tower in Blockopolis
  • Launch balls with the Reaction Contraption
  • Play in Babyscape—an area designed for children 2 and under

Playscape® is exclusively for our guests who are 5 and under. Older children who are with those young guests are welcome to act as helpers. If you do not have children in this age range, we recommend visiting other galleries in the museum.

Please park strollers outside of the gallery to ensure there is enough space inside for everyone.
