It may not be snowy and white – but Christmas Eve 2013 was filled with delight at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis as it enjoyed record attendance. On the final day of 12 Free Days in Downtown Indy, more than 9,400 visitors spent the day with friends and family enjoying the museum’s wealth of arts, sciences and humanities.
MistletoesThe winter celebration known as Jolly Days Winter Wonderland and the Yule Slide were no doubt big contributors to the crowd as little ones took advantage of one more visit with Santa Claus to put in those last minute requests.
“This is a wonderful time of year to spend with children and families who are filled with joy,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “We are honored that so many chose to spend this special time with us creating wonderful holiday memories and traditions.”
The new record beats the previous record set on December 24, 2010 by about 900.
The museum will be closed on December 25, 2013 (Christmas day); but, will reopen on Thursday, December 26, 2013. While typically closed on Mondays throughout the winter, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis will be open on Monday, December 30, 2013.
Don’t forget to ring in the New Year in a family-friendly sort of way during Countdown to Noon on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Countdown activities take place at 12noon and 1:00 p.m.; however, please arrive before 11a.m.; space for this event is limited.
- Festive party favors will be distributed while supplies last
- Several hands-on activities, which share how other countries celebrate the new year will be available from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.
- Grammy-nominated songwriter and singer, Zak Morgan will play in the Sunburst Atrium from 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and from 12:45-1:30 p.m. He will lead countdowns at noon and 1 p.m.
