It was green flag, touchdown, goal, hole-in-one, homerun, game, set, and match for the Legends in the Making Preseason Party. Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck delivered the keynote address at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and talked about how excited he is for the upcoming Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience®.
“If things aren’t fun, I don’t think the messages stick. I think SLE will definitely be fun and this message of health and fitness will stick because of how much fun it will be. I imagine a family coming and playing ball and having a great time,” said Andrew Luck, Colts quarterback. He went on to say, “Sports has taught me a lot of things: health and fitness, teamwork, accountability, how to handle winning, how to handle losing, accountability to your teammates, there are so many lessons to learn. Those lessons weren’t started in high school, college or the pros. I started learning those lessons when I was just a young kid.”
For decades, The Children’s Museum has provided transformative learning experiences for children and families; but, the work is never complete. Tonight, The Children’s Museum’s President and CEO announced that the museum is in the homestretch of a historic $71 million fundraising campaign with only $6 million left to raise.
“We’re already under way, fulfilling these goals with exhibits like Beyond Spaceship Earth and Dow AgroSciences ScienceWorks, experiences like the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience®, and programs like the Old National Bank Mid-North Promise Program and the Galleries for American Arts & Popular Culture,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum.
The Extraordinary Transformations campaign is an effort to build upon the foundation of creating world-class learning experiences for children and families. With a successful campaign, we aim to:
- Become a national model for health and family fitness
- Continue enhancing transformative family learning
- Advance science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs and experiences for all ages
- Provide education and career opportunities and guidance to the people of the Mid-North neighborhoods
Attendees learned some of the fun ways to warm up for the sports experience during this evening’s unique preseason party, which included: team mascots, cheerleaders, inflatable games for many of the sports (Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever free throw activity, Indy Fuel slap shot activity, Indians batting activity, First Tee putt putt experience, tennis), along with face painting and balloon twisting. Other fitness activities were provided by Riley Children’s Health.
