Plan-Ahead Pricing with Great Savings Just in Time for Spring Break at The World’s Largest Children’s Museum

Plan Ahead PricingThe Children’s Museum of Indianapolis remains committed to ensuring that all families have the opportunity to visit and enjoy its world-class exhibits, regardless of income. That is why it is implementing a new pricing structure that offers more affordable options and a wider range of lower-priced days. Plan-Ahead Pricing means that families who buy their tickets in advance can save as much as 65% on their visit to the museum.

Here’s how Plan-Ahead Pricing works:

A “How To” video on the museum’s website shows you how to purchase your tickets online.

Or, follow these instructions:

  1. Visit the pricing calendar found on our Buy Tickets page
  2. Use the color coding to determine prices
  3. Select a date that works for your budget and your schedule
  4. Enter ticket quantities
  5. Click “Buy Tickets” and check out
  6. It is important to note that prices are subject to change until the ticket is purchased. You always save by buying ahead of a visit to the museum.

This new pricing structure goes a step further than other pricing structures in that the museum has taken specific measures to ensure that there are more lower-priced options.

  • Prices will range from $12-$35.
  • The average day-of projected price is $21.75 (that’s $1.75 less than the current adult price of $23.50).
  • There will be at least 42 days in 2017 when day-of prices will be $16 or less (that includes 8 Sundays).
  • Visitors may buy tickets ahead of time starting February 1, 2017. But, the new pricing options will not go into effect until March 13, 2017 (this spring break).

In addition to The Children’s Museum’s new pricing structure, the museum continues its commitment to assist underserved children and families by offering four free days a year (those days are Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Day, El Día de los Niños, and Christmas Eve).  Or, visitors can choose to visit on the first Thursday night of each month and take advantage of $5 First Thursday Nights (4-8 p.m.) - all tickets are $5 each on those nights and are not affected by Plan-Ahead Pricing. It is highly recommended that families buy these tickets online in advance to avoid lines at the Box Office. In addition, the museum’s Access Pass program provides tickets that are $2 per person per visit for Hoosier families who qualify. Visit the museum’s website for details.

Always remember that a general admission ticket—regardless of the price paid— will include free parking and access to all of the museum’s exhibits, exhibit programs and special performances including the Lilly Theater and Schaefer Planetarium and Space Object Theater. There are two exceptions: the Museum Guild’s annual Haunted House in October requires a separate ticket, and the Carousel requires a $1 token. Membership remains the museum’s greatest value allowing visitors to pay once and visit unlimited times throughout the year. Visit childrensmuseum.org/membership for pricing and benefit information.
