Most visitors, plus most memberships, plus most school visits, add up to a record-breaking year at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Nearly 1.27 million children and their grownups visited in 2016 making it the highest year in attendance without a special exhibit such as King Tut. The only year that exceeded this was 2009 when the museum hosted Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs exhibition and the museum had 1,310,576 visitors that year. 2011 comes in third with 1,271,794 visitors—lagging behind 2016 by 7,000 visitors.

Drop by drop – North America’s largest water clock will Countdown to Noon with bright blue water pouring through glass globes at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. The annual tradition invites families to experience the countdown to a new year at a reasonable time for little ones by watching water cycle through the two-and-a-half story water clock.

Pete and Alice Dye are in the process of designing and creating their first-ever mini-golf experience, which will replicate some of Pete’s most famous course and hole designs in the world. As the story goes… golf meant love at first sight for legends Pete and Alice Dye – love for the sport and love for each other. That love has evolved over the years into the creation of world famous courses and the need to share their passion with the next generation of potential golfers.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is saddened to learn of the death of the museum’s fourth director, Peter Sterling. Mr. Sterling passed away at his home in Waynesville, North Carolina on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the age of 81.
