My son adores going to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. Last year, he was finally old enough to appreciate ScienceWorks. We went with my father, who was a chemistry teacher for 35 years. My son Gabriel had millions of questions for his Papa, especially when admiring the pool ball gadget. He wanted to know what kept all of the balls in motion. My father patiently explained inertia in a way a five year old could understand, and he also taught Gabriel about pulleys and levers. They must have stood there for half an hour, admiring, talking, bonding, and even becoming part of the gadget. Gabriel still talks about that now a year later when we go to the museum, and I've overheard him teaching other kids about it. It was wonderful to see my son and my father bond so well.
