The Children’s Museum is celebrating Native American heritage in November! Along with several collections cases throughout the museum displaying Northwest Coast cultures, Southwestern cultures, and Plains cultures, the museum features a festival dedicated to teaching school children about Native American peoples found throughout the United States.
Many visitors may not know that we have over 3,000 Native American artifacts in our permanent collection. Many of these artifacts are rarely seen, like the three deer hide dresses on exhibit on the lower level of the museum. Other artifacts that you may find on exhibit around the museum this time of year are contemporary Pow Wow dance regalia, traditional and contemporary Inuit outfits from the Arctic region, and a contemporary Kwakiutl raven transformation mask. So be sure to stroll around the museum and help us celebrate Native American diversity!
