Indianapolis Colts quarterback and Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience® spokesperson, Andrew Luck, surprised some of our young StarPoint campers at the museum recently. The children were part of a four-week summer camp for underserved children in the Mid-North neighborhoods around us. With the delighted eyes of 75 young campers upon him, Andrew read one of his favorite childhood books, Manaic McGee by Jerry Spinelli.
Campers were beyond excited by Luck’s visit and were captivated by his reading. Soon after, thank you notes from the campers flowed into the museum. One of them said,
“Dear Mr. Luck, Thank you for coming to StarPoint. Truly, I’ve wanted to meet you since I was six years old, and I waited three years…” –StarPoint camper.
Transformative experiences like this happen only because of the generosity of supporters like you. This example is just one way your contributions to The Children’s Museum Fund are impacting young people in our communities on a life-changing level.
As part of our Extraordinary Transformations Campaign, we are proud of these new world-class initiatives aimed at transforming the lives of children and families:
- Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience®
- The Heritage Group Center for Family Learning in STEM
- Galleries for American Arts and Popular Culture
- Old National Bank Mid-North Promise Program
- The Children’s Museum Fund
With an overall goal of $67.6 million in funding, these programs engage and enlighten children, families, and teachers with a diverse array of first-rate experiences in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and popular culture. Also, special initiatives for area residents are revitalizing local underprivileged neighborhoods. And the sports experience will provide an extraordinary opportunity for health, wellness, and family fun.
But the year isn’t over yet. Currently, we have reached 86% of our goal for the Extraordinary Transformations Campaign. These funds fuel programs vital to the growth and outreach of the museum, and your generous contributions make all the difference. Reach out now to help us hit our goal!
