Before you can get a hole-in-one at The Pete and Alice Dye Golf Experience, presented by Henry and Christine Camferdam, there has to be a hole first. So, how does it work? The first hole we placed in the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience® is modeled after hole #11 in the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana. Here’s how:
The exact shape, tee box, green, hazards, and hole locations are positioned using GPS to purely represent the replicated golf hole for a true and real experience.
The construction team then forms the golf hole and pours concrete in sections. Each section is shaped and hand-troweled to create as unique an experience as possible to actually playing the real replicated hole.
After the surface is sealed and cured, the turf is installed in sections using up to six different cuts of turf. The fairways, rough, second cut, greens, and hazards use different turf styles and cuts to maximize the real golf experience.
Finally, the turf is cleaned and ready to be putted!
Here’s the finished product!
Even something small can take a lot of work. The miniature golf course is going to be great thanks to the precision and diligence of our construction team. The Camferdam Golf Experience opens in spring of 2018 with the rest of the sports experiences in the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience®. Until then, stay up to par with the rest of construction by following us on our social media channels.
