I spent hours and hours as a child building things with my erector set. At one point I thought I was going to be an architect since I liked playing with this set so much. I think I had an 8 and 1/2 set but always wanted the top of the line 12 and 1/2 set so I could build the big robot. (But it was way too expensive then.)
