Ingredients
- 1 box of spice cake mix
- ½ cup of butter at room temperature
- 1 egg
- Flour
- Optional cookie decorations:
- Frosting
- Royal icing
- Sprinkles
- Cinnamon imperials
- Sprinking sugars
Utensils
- Large mixing bowl
- Mixing spoon or whisk
- Mesh strainer or flour sifter
- Parchment paper
- Rolling pin
- Small bowl
- Spatula
- Cookie cutters
- Baking sheet
Procedure
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Combine butter and egg in large mixing bowl.
- Sift spice cake mix into butter and egg mixture.
- Mix until combined.
- Place in refrigerator. Chill dough for one hour.
- Place dough between two pieces of parchment paper. Roll dough with rolling pin.
- Use lightly floured cookie cutter and cut out your cookies.
- With a lightly floured spatula, remove excess dough. Repeat step #6 with excess dough.
- Carefully place cut cookie dough on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Bake 6–8 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool for 20 minutes (or more).
- Decorate your cookie creations!
