The Children's Museum of Indianapolis was, of course, on our to-do list. As we approached, it was hard not to be excited and drawn in with all the dinosaur displays. My 5 year old daughter had recently completed a class study on the Brachiosaurus, so this was really something. And as we continued to enter the museum, moving from area to area, we were continually impressed and drawn to attractions.
Our special moment was easy to recollect as both my 5 year old and 16 month old absolutely fell in love with the cultural exhibit, including a flight to Egypt. As we moved along, one thing was better than the other. We enjoyed this exhibit for well over 3 hours and came back a second time. Counting coins, making letters, sending a postcard, trying on clothes, learning about herbs. Where do I stop? Oh, and the fabulous live music. Our entire family was completely entertained and educated. Our school (at home) is very diverse, including many Middle Eastern and Asian children and families. This experience helped us learn and be more thoughtful to others in our everyday lives. It has created conversations and invitations to connect and engage. It's truly been more than a trip to Egypt for my family.
