The Three Rings of the Circus: Putting on the Show

Before the invention of the television allowed us to witness amazing acts, death-defying stunts, and hilarious bloopers through a screen, people would travel far and wide to witness these things--at the circus! The circus scene captivates the senses; the sights, smells, and sounds leave audiences in awe. On the flip side of the audience is the performers who make it all happen. In this blog series, we cover the three rings that comprise The Children’s Museum’s newest exhibit Circus—Starring YOU!

After reading this blog, be sure to learn about Ring One and Ring Two.

A great performer will have personality, skill, and presentation—no matter the act. Once an act is practiced to perfection, it’s time to put on a show! In ring three within the exhibit, you’ll add the finishing touches to your performance:

  • Wardrobe change! - Find a costume that’s a perfect fit for you. Are you more of the funny-clown type, or are you a ringmaster? We have costumes from both on display for inspiration!

  • Can you juggle it all? - Practice stationary juggling, or take a quick class with one of our staff to be a part of a show under the Big Top!

  • Stand and pose - Strike a show-stopping pose on one of our circus stands after your act is complete.

  • Clown around - Join a Circus Class to learn a few jokes and pantomimes to make the audience laugh between acts! Check the online calendar for daily times for this in-depth program.

In our circus, there’s a place for everyone to put their talents and skills on display. Check out our circus programs the day of your visit for in-depth experiences with our staff ringmasters. Then, show off your circus performance by sharing photos using #atTCM for a chance to be featured on our website or social media. You don’t want to miss the sights and sounds of this circus! Get in the act of Circus—Starring YOU! Feb. 18 through Nov. 26, 2017!
