We have been coming to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis during Jolly Days for several years. It's one of the few times that we are able to go as a whole family now that we have a child in school full time and a full-time working parent.
Of course, the Yule Slide is our favorite part! The anticipation builds as we round the corners of the second floor, getting closer to the top of the slide! Usually, our daughter will want to ride on Daddy's lap. But last year, she went on her own for the first time! What a ride it was for her! It was a great time for her to show her independence! This left Mommy and Daddy to be able to race in earnest. Daddy won this time, but I think the thing was rigged! Ha! Another of our favorite memories is "baking" pretend holiday treats in the Traditions section of Jolly Days. We can "eat" quite an interesting variety of combinations of plastic food for a good long while! Who knew that plastic turkey and cookie sandwiches were so "mmmmmm...good!" Even as we prepare real treats at home, the experience is the same. (Though I'm thankful that we're not making real turkey and cookie sandwiches!) As a final hurrah to our day, we always participate in the Snowball Fights on the ice pond. Years ago, it was just fun to watch our tiny little daughter lost in the madness and flurry of a pretend blizzard, but these days she's more interested in pummeling her parents with as many soft balls as possible!
We are so thankful to have the best Children's Museum in the world so close to our backyard, and we look forward to coming again and again as our family grows!
