FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 28, 2022 (Indianapolis, IN) – The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is back open after closing earlier this week due to a flood in the Welcome Center caused by a frozen sprinkler line. We cannot wait to celebrate the last day of 2022 with a family-friendly one-of-a-kind, countdown to the New Year. We are still operating with a temporary entrance to the museum. For the best entry experience, we strongly suggest reserving your spot(s) in advance online or by phone at 317-334-4000 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Visitors are invited to park in the parking garage or nearby lots for free, and proceed from there to our skywalk. All visitors will need to enter the museum via the skywalk located on the 2nd floor of the parking garage. Visitors can plan ahead by watching this video featuring the new entry process.
There will be two celebrations beginning at noon and 1 p.m. on December 31, 2022, to allow families the opportunity to welcome in 2023 at a reasonable hour without keeping the kids up past bedtime. Join in the music, confetti launch and make lasting memories with family and friends. There will be festive party favors (while supplies last). Countdown to Noon celebrations are FREE with general admission.
The activities for this year’s Countdown to Noon include:
- New Year’s Around the World - Send New Year’s greetings to friends all over the world by learning pronunciations of foreign languages and matching each greeting to its corresponding country.
- Family Paper Time-Capsule - Recount your favorite memories of 2022 by creating a time capsule. Snap a photo next to our “Happy New Year” banner to add as a finishing touch to your 2022 capsule!
- Performances by Zak Morgan - Enjoy music by Grammy-nominated Zak Morgan, and join him in counting down to 2023 at noon and 1p.m.
Also, families won’t want to miss the opportunity to experience Jolly Days: Winter Wonderland for its final season through January 1, 2023. Visitors can have fun ice (sock) skating, faux fishing, or holiday baking. There is also a castle to climb and a magical globe that allows visitors to make it snow at the push of a button! Don’t forget to join the faux snowball fight in the Atrium or attend The Snow Queen performance (free with admission) within Lilly Theater at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Friendly reminder - any visitor(s) who purchased tickets for Monday, Dec. 26 or Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, they can visit another day before the end of the year, no action is necessary. Tickets will automatically be valid through Dec. 31, 2022.
Unfortunately, stroller, wagon and locker rentals, as well as the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience® indoor exhibits (Power Play, World of Sport, and National Art Museum of Sport), will not be available this week.
Countdown to Noon is presented by Peterman Brothers – Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and supported by Donatos Pizza, International School of Indiana and MJ Insurance.
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is proud to partner with Riley Children’s Health, Old National Bank, Ice Miller LLP, and The Heritage Group.
