Top Five Toys for 2022 as Selected by Kids for Kids

For immediate release

Oct. 21, 2022

Those who want the perfect gift—go to the experts. When it comes to finding toys kids will love, that means asking other children. In Kid-Tested, Kid-Approved at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, families get the chance to try out toys themselves to figure out what they like and then vote on their favorites.

Drum roll please… the top five toys for 2022 (as selected by children) are:

  1. Micro Slot Racing Set
  2. Roboraptor
  3. Giant Pancake Monster Game
  4. Magnet Picture MagPad
  5. Tongues Out!

Looks like everyone buckled up to win the world’s smallest slot car race and voted Micro Slot Racing Build as the number one toy on the list. The tiny sports cars have headlights and they’re controlled with  remote controls that have an accelerator, turbo button, and speed control. Not only is it fun; but, it is a classic STEM- building toy that encourages kids to focus on speed of cars and make predictions of who will win the race.

Dino-lovers had a great time playing with a remote control RoboRaptor. It walks forward and backward with the touch of a button. LED light features and roaring sounds are enough to get anyone’s heart pumping. Because it’s controlled by a remote, it also teaches STEM lessons while having fun and comes in at number two.

Third place was literally a surprise as families who placed a pancake card inside the Pancake Monster  held their collective breath waiting for it to pop up at an unexpected time. The spring mechanism triggers the monster to (safely) pop up and swallow the player's arm! If that happens to you, you have to collect all of the pancakes in the monster's mouth. The first player to get rid of all their pancakes wins the game!

Children hold the power of art in their hands with #4—the Mag Pad Pictures magnetic drawing board. Kids use a magnetic pen to trace pictures as beads appear on the surface. Soothing clicking sounds when the magnetic balls are moved around the board. This toy helps develop fine motor skills as kids manipulate the stylis to develop writing and drawing skills.

Who doesn’t have fun sticking their tongue out? Coming in at #5 is a game called, Tongues Out! The pugs ate all the lollipops! Luckily their tongues are dyed the color of the lollipop they had! So with each turn, players try to match two lollipops on the dice with two squishy puppies that they think licked them! When you gently squeeze the little pups, their tongues pop out! The first player to match 6 pugs with lollipops’ colors wins the game! It is the perfect way to teach counting, memory and social play.
