FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (March 8, 2023) – Calling All Gamers! Visitors can expect to be transported into a three-dimensional world when they step inside Minecraft: The Exhibition, coming to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on March 11, 2023. Created by The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in partnership with Mojang Studios, Minecraft: The Exhibition celebrates the Minecraft pop cultural phenomenon and looks at the game’s impact across the globe.
Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time! Whether you are a player or non-player, the exhibition is designed to inspire you to unleash your imagination to build new worlds on a massive scale. In Minecraft: The Exhibition, visitors will enjoy an immersive experience featuring 15 life-sized Minecraft characters, scenic backdrops, a day-night lighting cycle, audio effects, and a gallery score.
"We wanted to bring Minecraft to life in the museum to explore it more deeply, celebrate its community, and share this important phenomenon with the world," said Jacob McMurray, Director of Curatorial, Collections and Exhibits of MoPOP.
Minecraft is a video game that allows players to create virtual homes, villages, and experiences that help you learn, from basic math principles to physics to geometry - even storytelling.
“In this one-of-a-kind exhibit, the spectrum of what you can create is limitless,” said Erica Lacey, senior exhibits project manager at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “We hope visitors are inspired to look deep within and embark on a quest to build a better world, both digitally and in real life.”
The exhibit will be at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis from March 11 – August 6, 2023 and is free with museum admission. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets at childrensmuseum.org.
