INDIANAPOLIS (September 20, 2023) – Celebrate Latin American culture at the fourth annual Fiesta de la Familia hosted by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Sunday, September 24, 2023, with special programming from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission is FREE as the museum honors National Hispanic Heritage month.
Families and children can expect to experience exciting LIVE performances, activities highlighting folk art from different Latin American countries, connect with community partners and receive a free flu shot.
Program Schedule:

- Mexican Paper Flower Fiesta with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana
- Create your own traditional paper flower
- Puerto Rican Vejigantes Masks
- Color your own folkloric mask
- Columbian Mochilas
- Take inspiration from traditional mochilas to decorate your own bag
- Family Photos
- Decorate a photo cube and celebrate the day with a family photo
- Guatemalan Worry Dolls
- Create your own doll to help remove your worries
- Mexican Paper Flower Fiesta with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana
- Live Music
- Zelaya Mariachi Band – 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.

- Story Time – 1p.m.
- Join author María Rosana Mestre for story time as she reads her book Carlota Shares her Secret/Carlota Cuenta su Secreto
- Author Book Signing– 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Meet author of Hoosier Latinos: A Century of Struggle, Service and Success Nicole Martinez-LeGrand. Purchase a copy and have your book signed

- Indiana University School of Medicine Medical Spanish Student Interest Group – 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- CollegeChoice 529 Savings Plans is back! - Adults 18 and older can scan a QR code on CollegeChoice 529 signs placed throughout the building for a chance to win one of four $250 account deposits into a new or existing CollegeChoice 529 Savings Plan account. Paper entries will also be available on-site, and winners will be contacted the following week
Free Flu Shots Available during Fiesta de la Familia Day
Riley Children’s Health medical professionals will be on hand to administer vaccinations to healthy children, 6 months and up, and adults who confirm they do not have any signs of illness or other medical conditions. Adults will be required to sign vaccine consent forms for anyone under 18 years of age. Everyone is encouraged to consult with their personal physician before receiving vaccinations. Shots will be administered from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. while supplies last.
