Sacred Places

There is only one month left to explore some of the places that are meaningful to people around the world--both religiously and spiritually. Sacred Places is an exhibit in which families are encouraged to have meaningful conversations about religion and potentially learn more about beliefs that might be new to them. The goal is to foster curiosity and understanding of religions. Included in this exhibit are experiences that highlight the following sacred places:

  • Patan Durbar Square, Nepal (Hinduism)
  • Wat Arun Temple, Thailand (Buddhism)
  • Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island (traditional spiritual practices)
  • The Beheading of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Madaba, Jordan (Christianity)
  • The Great Mosque, Djenné, Mali (Islam)
  • Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, Curaçao (Judaism)

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is proud to partner with Riley Children’s Health, Old National Bank, Ice Miller LLP, and The Heritage Group.
