We are excited that Malala Yousafzai has been added as the fourth child in The Power of Children: Making a Difference®. As of 2021, this is the ONLY permanent exhibit featuring Malala Yousafzai in the world!
Malala is a Pakistani activist for female education. She became the youngest person ever to be awarded the Nobel Prize. She is known for human rights advocacy, especially the education of women and children in her home of Swat Valley in northwest Pakistan, where the local Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. Malala used the Power of Education to fight for human rights.
The expanded portion of The Power of Children® exhibit features her life, the challenges she faced as she attempted to get an education, and the positive impact she has had around the world. Inside a recreation of her home in the Swat Valley, the gallery presents information about her life—showing how she used the family computer to express her message. The gallery features her legacy and also showcases other girls who stood up for the right to attend school.
